Hello Swing Dancers! 802 Westie is delighted to have Oscar Hampton up north this spring for two exciting workshops for our Lindy Hop Dancers and West Coast Swing Dancers.
The two hour Lindy workshop from 12-2pm will cover connection dynamics and Swing Out variations. This is a progressive series of concepts and moves, and will present a fun challenge and new learning for a Lindy Hopper at any level.
The West Coast Swing workshop is from 2pm-4pm. In this workshop we will focus on whip theory and how this basic pattern can open up your dancing. We’ll also cover how to get the conversation going with awesome lead/follow dynamics and musicality.
Oscar is from California where he dances Champions level Lindy Hop and All Star level WCS. For more, see bio below.

Oscar Hampton is passionate about swing dancing, and dances from his soul. He started dancing in 2005 in Kansas City and has since become an accomplished performer, competitor, and instructor in both the Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing communities. Oscar has won and placed at many national and international swing dance events including The International Lindy Hop Championships, The Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, Dallas Dance, Canadian Swing Dance Championships, Swing Diego and Boston Tea Party.
Oscar is dedicated to growing and improving the swing dance community by reaching out to as many new dancers as possible, and presenting them with solid foundational dance technique in a fresh, fun way. He draws from his experience and training in solo and partner dancing to promote the idea that swing dances are built from natural body movements. Like his performances, Oscar’s classes are offer a mix of strong technique and pure fun, of tradition and innovation. He encourages dancers to go beyond canned moves and sequences, using simple dance elements and strong connection to their partners to create their own unique dances.
Oscar is experienced in teaching private and group lessons, as well as team choreography. He has traveled extensively in his pursuit of more swing dancing, and trained in communities both inside and out of the US. To each new event, he brings contagious enthusiasm and love for swing dancing!
